The CdM foundation continues to be the primary funding source for technology at the school. After we made
a major investment and upgrade to the school a couple of years ago, our focus now in on integration and expanding the use
of technology to enhance learning.
This past summer we started a multi-year project to install
LCD Projectors on the ceilings and have completed 44 rooms. Advantages of having them mounted include safety and esthetics,
eliminate the need for TVs for viewing video/DVDs, Smart Boards don't need to be re-calibrated each time they are used, and
other technology devices are more easily integrated for classroom multimedia instruction.
Special
thanks to Nina Elisius and John McCarthy for facilitating a donation by Pfizer, Inc. of 80 IBM/Lenovo computers! This has
enabled us to expand the resource/library area to accommodate our largest class size. We are also able to expand the number
of computers available in some classrooms and replace some 10+ year old computers. Thanks Nina, John, and Pfizer!
We also are expanding and enhancing the network infrastructure. This included additional LCD monitors, hardware supporting
the Pfizer donation, resource/library computer furniture, and we are also evaluating the most effective way to expand the
campus wireless network.
In addition to the $60,000 the foundation invests in the above and other
initiatives, we also help fund technology support personnel. For example, Lois Smith our Technology Administrative Assistant
who supports and helps the students in the lab is founded by the foundation.
